When I was decorating our home for Autumn, I was trying to come up with a centerpiece for my dining room table. I didn’t want the usual pumpkins and colored leaves there, but something more rustically elegant, with natural materials to contrast with the gray walls, as well as add texture and a touch of color to the room. Then I remembered a beautiful gathering basket I bought in Pennsylvania a couple of years ago that has a very unusual hand-painted ceramic ring on the handle. For some reason it usually resides on top of our kitchen cabinets, which certainly isn’t showing it off the gorgeous detail. It was the perfect size for my table and adding the hydrangea blossoms I dried this year created exactly the look I wanted.
